#28LegalMinds is a campaign launched by Mark Migdal & Hayden to raise funds and awareness about critical mental health issues facing the legal profession. The number 28 comes from the most recent study of licensed, employed attorneys released by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and the American Bar Association, which found that 28% of attorneys surveyed struggle with depression.

This number has increased from 19% in 1990 (Johns Hopkins) and is more than four times that of the general population.

In support of this growing concern in the legal profession, Mark Migdal and Hayden (“MM&H”) has initiated this campaign in association with Florida Lawyer’s Assistance and the Hagan-Kilby Foundation. This not-for-profit foundation aims to ensure that all attorneys and legal professionals who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, alcoholism, or any other mental illness or substance abuse issue can access resources and get the necessary help to recover.

Matched donations

.

You can make a difference by purchasing a pin for a minimum donation of $5. Then, help raise awareness by wearing the pin and converse about the issue when people ask. Take a selfie in a place you feel most inspired, at a legal sponsored event, or in your firm wearing the pin, and share it on Twitter, LinkedIn or Instagram with the hashtags #28LegalMinds and #LawRealigned. Once you share on any of the social media channels, MM&H will match up to $5 per each pin purchased.

Proceeds from this initiative will go to the Florida Lawyers Assistance’s Hagan-Kilby Foundation to help lawyers in need. For more information, please visit www.fla-lap.org/hagan-kilby
