Integrity in Legal Practice: What Sets Us Apart

Our guiding principle is integrity. It informs how we treat each other, how we judge ourselves and how we approach our clients cases. In the practice of our craft, integrity manifests in three ways.

How we collaborate

When ego takes a backseat to results, collaboration works. At the inception of each case, our team comes together and discusses where the case needs to end and how to chart the course to best achieve that result. We work with co-counsel without ego, as a partner dedicated to winning. All energy is aligned toward achieving that result, without regard to selfish motives. We consider what’s best for the client, communicate that objective to the client and execute on it, together.

How we charge

We don’t send internal emails when we’re sitting five feet away from each other and then bill the client for a six minute “internal correspondence.” We don’t bill for online legal research costs or “long-distance telephone calls” or photocopying. We are always open to explore alternative fee arrangements (contingency, flat fee, success-based hourly rate) when they make economic sense for our client and our firm. We do the work that needs to get done and we do not bill hours just for the sake of billing hours.

How we behave

All of our attorneys are expected to work ethically and work smart while remaining true to themselves. Individuality and diversity of thought is an asset in the legal profession, so we expect our team to use their brains. Ultimately, we find that providing the space for individuality leads to more creative problem solving. Our communication style is direct and constructive. Sometimes this means telling clients things they don’t want to hear, but our focus is singular: win.
