Isaac is the all-inclusive North American. He is a permanent U.S. resident, who was born in Mexico City, (es fluidez en espanol) and raised in Edmonton, Canada (is fluent in Canadian, eh). Isaac is a goal oriented business lawyer who solves problems that cut across legal disciplines. His career has primarily focused on advocating on behalf of, or litigating claims against, companies that are in some form of distress. For this work, he has been acknowledged by Chambers & Partners USA in the bankruptcy and restructuring area and is consistently recognized as a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers.

Over the course of his career as a business litigator focused on distressed companies, Isaac regularly represents bankruptcy trustees and state court fiduciaries, financial or legally distressed companies, as well as, opportunistic investors in non- traditional investments. Isaac represented the bankruptcy trustee overseeing the liquidation of the Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm after the Scott Rothstein Ponzi scheme came to light, as part of this representation Isaac was involved in more than 100 adversary proceedings, as well as confirmation of the chapter 11 plan and litigation and settlement with the federal government regarding the forfeiture of assets. Moreover, Isaac also represented Trident Contracting LLC in connection with its acquisition of all of the assets of Advanced Contracting Solutions pursuant to 11 U.S. Code § 363.

Isaac also serves as General Counsel and Managing Director for Kaplan Residential LLC.  As general counsel of Kaplan Residential LLC Isaac oversees numerous corporate, real estate, litigation and transactional matters for the company.  In this dual role – partner at MM&H and general counsel at Kaplan, Isaac is deeply engaged in the southeastern United States real estate market on a daily basis, and is equally comfortable in the courtroom and the boardroom.

Prior to joining MM&H, Isaac was a partner on Berger Singerman’s Business and Restructuring Team, one of the preeminent restructuring teams in the nation. He also was the firm’s first Chief Innovation Partner, responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies and resources to efficiently serve the firm’s clients. Isaac started his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond B. Ray, Bankruptcy Judge Southern District of Florida.
